I was told by a certain guy who is in the illuminati that masons are under the illuminati. He claimed that we are under their influence yet we do not know. He even talked of the myths-about Poseidus. Please fellow brethrens, clarify this for me and if there is any link between the Freemason and the illuminati.
Thanks in advance.
Yours truly, Bro Bilal.

BTW, your opening post said you wanted to be a mason, but didn't know anyone, and now your claiming to be one, care to clarify Any misunderstanding is due to my usage ( linked). I addressed Bro. Bilal as such, on the basis that I understand Freemasonry to be modelled on the brotherhood of humanity (and, indeed, of all sentient beings).

Bilal,Having posted under "Masonic Hoaxes" I suspect you already know the answer to this. The guy is not an Illuminatus in the commonly understood sense of being a member of the Bavarian fraternity founded by Adam Weishaupt in 1776, which was suppressed in 1785 and has long since been extinct. The name "Illuminati" is now up for grabs and any whacko group can call themself that. While the original group may have been modeled on Freemasonry, if there ever was any connection, Freemasonry was never "under" it. Mainstream Freemasonry strictly insists on Grand Lodges having primary and supreme authority of the Craft. While one may apply for or be invited to join other masonic Orders, they are not superior to the Craft. While they may explain or unfold the principles of Freemasonry in greater detail, those Orders, sometimes described as "Higher Degrees" are more correctly described as being "under" the Craft, with regard to authority within the fraternity. BTW, I have not encountered any myth about Poseidus in a masonic context.

The guy was yanking your chain. You are right Bro. Maximus. ;-) Imagine the guy even told me that he was the Prince of Darkness stating that he was not a human being. I really laughed out loud since that made things a bit clear.

You are right I did say that. I wonder why you were quick to judge me Bro.Azaziel, didn't the thought of me having found an introductee or joined come to your mind? You would simply have asked, "Did you get the chance to join and congrats" but sadly you even used the word claiming as in personating. Please try and use kind words next time brother. WE ARE ONE!!!

Bro.Tamrin
I suspected such but I never wanted to assume but consult and am glad that you have clarified this. I never wanted that guy to get into my head by keeping silent with such a question nagging my mind and since I trust you to give me the correct directions and guidance, I posted this here to also get help from my fellow brothers.
Thank you brothers.
