Pray for Queensland. For days the story has been unfolding. From the devastation and loss of lives in Toowoomba's flash flooding (on top of the Great Dividing Range!?), to Ipswich, the tragedy now effects 75% of the state, with even Brisbane's CBD awash. The images on the news are appalling: Victims' emotions range from stoic to despair. All that can be done is happening but much simply needs to wait till the water receeds.

Yeah, devastating, but the elephant in the room is the dams, both are approaching 200%, if they were to break, no more brisbane, I know they are releasing, but more is pouring in than getting out, even what is getting out is causing huge problems. The floods cover an area bigger than Texas

A view of God behaving in such a manner accords with the Albigensian notion of Satan being the God of this world. If God were indeed such an entity, I would consider it my duty to defy him and to accept the consequences. Certainly, those making these comments are not good-natured souls.

I'd go so far as to say they are nut-jobs.

An interesting view of this disaster, as so opposed to Katrina in the US, looting has been virtually non existent, it is more of people helping people, this is not seen as an opportunity to cash in on someone else's bad luck

I'd go so far as to say they are nut-jobs. Agreed. Sadly, they are not, however, to be lightly dismissed on that account. Catch the Fire Ministries appear to be cashed up with a substantial supporter base. While they are free to say what they will, however vicious ( they blamed the 2009 Victorian bushfires on legalised abortion), what riles me is that, in doing so, they enjoy tax-free status as a religious body. I am a huge advocate of tax-exemption being subject to a public-benefit test.
