The set criteria for this site are credibility and civility: Deliberate misattributions and misrepresentations breach both these conditions.
Where a member misrepresents another or wrongly attributes a statement to them the first step will be to accept that innocent misunderstanding or misrecollections are not uncommon. While members are urged to be sure of their facts before posting, innocent errors will be dealt with as such, calling only for correction (and, hopefully, an apology).
As Administrator, I will judge between what constitutes innocent and deliberate misattributions or misrepresentations and I intend to err on the side of leniency. However, ultimately, the call is mine. Where I deem the action is deliberate (as with repeated instances despite having been corrected), posts will be deleted, offenders warned and, if they still persist, banned.
