Greetings to All,
You do not seem to write much, even on imporatnt issues. That is the reason why I postponed my posts on "Search for Truth". In case I get a response I will gladly continue.
My subjecet of choice today is an important paper by R.C. Barnes. First I give the link : www.freemasons-freemasonry.com/science-freemasonry.html
Let me first quote a paragraph from the work : "Foremost amongst those institutions which have seen their influence seriously eroded in modern Western society are Christianity and Freemasonry—both of which have been singled out as lacking relevance or as having lost touch with the modern, younger generations and New-Age lifestyles. Each of these institutions has suffered plummeting membership whilst retaining an ageing, committed core of followers which, in the fullness of time, will inevitably be lost."
In the previous paragraph the author refers to science as the cause.
I would rather say it is the technology. Scinece and technology form a spiral like DNA with two components. They can not be easily separated from each other but the technolgy, the way we pruduce and market things is mainly responsible for this reality.
Producing more and consuming more took our time. Consumption gave also satisfaction. People tended to forget the responsibility side of the things. The joy side was much more satisfying.
To some extent people forgot questioning because the subjects got more complicated day by day. Things were less and less understandable as a whole. Understanding the job done was enough and the payment was enough to live Especially after the 2nd War.
Do you agree, or do you have some additions to make ?
sincerely yours
