Normally I'd say Rand's "philosophy" should be assessed on its merits. However, it has none. Her so-called "philosophy" is pathological and her regard for William Edward Hickman is instructive. I'd like to emphasise that, from what I've read, Hickman was not amoral: Rather he was exceedingly immoral. It was not that he simply did not care for social norms or opinions: Rather he cared very much for his reputation and actively sought notoriety. The most charitable thing we can say of Rand's opinion of Hickman is that her long term, heavy usage of the since banned, addictive, psychoactive and judgment impairing amphetamine, Dexamyl (diet pills), appears to have scrambled her mind (think of Ellen Burstyn's character in Requiem for a Dream).

The Satanic Rituals. The latter book also included rituals drawing on the work of H.P. Lovecraft which were actually penned by Michael A. Aquino who would later found the Temple of Set.
