Well, they have been coming back to this theory, and Philip, I know you have no time for sitchin,( who by the way passed away earlier this month), but this was one of his pet theories, but riddle me this, if the neandertals are not modern, so not related to us, where did they come from, and where did they go???

We were distantly related to Neanderthals. They too were human. There is evidence that we coexisted for a while but the plain truth is that their line is now extinct. In our recent migration Out of Africa we somehow supplanted all previous human populations: Perhaps we fought; perhaps we over exploited common resources (fire stick hunting methods); or perhaps we carried with us a disease to which other humans had no immunity (think of how devastating the Black Death was and how Small Pox brought many indigenous peoples close to extinction upon contact with Europeans). Who knows?
