Had Wawra been carrying a weapon this offer of free tickets could have counted as an incident of self-defence, as supposedly recorded by libertarian John Lott in his much touted book More Guns, Less Crime. I thought there was something fishy about Lott's study when I was first told of it on the original Political Freedom forum. Now the truth is out: Read Do guns make us safer?.

There seems to be a pattern here as with Pinker. When right-wing wackos don't like the science they make-up their own and try to bluff their way through even after being thoroughly debunked. They have a contempt for real science. Even when they cannot be seen to openly support things like Creationism, they turn to pseudosciences like Intelligent Design. For them the truth is what you make it. Ultimately their superstitious religious underbelly shows through and they can be seen to be relying on their own twisted and bigoted faith rather than on being led by the facts.
