For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains,
but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others
We need to exert ourselves that much more, and break out of the vicious cycle
of dependence imposed on us by the financially powerful: those in command of
immense market power and those who dare to fashion the world in their own image
Does anybody really think that they didn't get what they had because they didn't have
the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment?
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine,
as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.
The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear
It is said that no-one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails.
A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones
Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin,
or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate,
they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite
