Excellent video and article on this perennial question. IMO, the crux of the article is: "Religion is a lot of things to a lot of people, and I’m not going to define it for you, but it’s certainly easy to see why so many non-freemasons see it as a religion." I agree that much of the debate to date has little to recommend it beyond rhetoric. If we do not define "religion" it can be conveniently made to fit any argument (Freemasonry would be a religion according to some definitions and not according to others). If one goes beyond the Craft degrees the difficulties become even more complex. Just because Freemasonry may declare itself to be inclusive, whether or not it is compatible with any particular religion is not for us to say. If a religion authoritatively rules they are incompatible with us then, ipso facto, they are.
