For myself, what has rather been surprising is the influence he appears to exert on some Freemasons. His views, explicitly anti-syncretic, cannot be reconciled with the wide syncretic Freemasonic impulse. His extreme eclectic selection of a narrow dogma as to what or may not be considered genuine and 'traditional' appeals of course to our sense for the search for genuine spirituality - at the cost, however, of mistaking the noumenous for his views as to what is 'Perennial' and 'Traditionalist', neither of which are truly perennial nor based on the vast and rich syncretic traditions.
