Neither Max Freedom Long nor Serge Kahili King have ripped off anything.
The latter was ADOPTED by a Hawaiian family (hence the middle name) and was trained by his adoptive father, brother and sister in various Hawaiian shamanic techniques.
I am horrified by the way you keep throwing accusations against people in this fashion and I hereby resign from this board.
Goodbye! Dear Bro. Synchronicity,I deeply regret your decision: You will be sorely missed. As for King's "middle name," it would appear to be a further affectation (the ah'lil were the chiefs, k'ahili, is more of a title) and, as for King and Long being genuine, you had said: And he [Max Freedom Long] never claimed his 'Huna' to be exactly the knowledge used by the Kahuna, although it endeavoured to get as close as possible. The problem lies with the 'endeavour.' Please bear in mind that, as Bro. Maximus has stated, he is T'salagi, and I am part aboriginal Australian: This is a legitimate bone of contention for us (and hopefully for others).

Synchronicity, I am sorry you have taken this so personally. You must understand that Native beliefs, taken out of cultural contex, are difficult to maintain without contamination. This contamination is my chief concern, along with unscrupulous individuals making a quick buck playing off of the incredulity of the uninformed. The NA community here in the US has fought against such, publicly exposing people who have engaged in these things. I'm sure similar has been done in Australia regarding Aboriginal traditions.
It is one thing to be adopted into a family, and to be taught Native teachings from a tribal elder, but it is another entirely to take the traditions and overlay them on top of modern beliefs or systems, while calling them "ancient" or "authentic."
I hate that you have decided to leave over this, rather than attempting to understand where Bro. Philip and I are coming from.

Perhaps some explanation of my own perspective is in order. Despite connections stretching back a couple of generations and despite having a legal case for being considered a Lord Howe Islander (because of my mother's status as an islander through marriage), I was close enough and familiar enough with the sensitivities of the true islanders to know that, were I to claim to be an islander, more than a few eyebrows would be raised. Thus, when the following article appeared, I was both flattered and a bit embarrassed. One welcomes such inclusions but never appropriates them. Lord Howe Island supplement Port Macquarie News

I'll bet you'd like to have that nice, dark hair back now. I was 16 when you got married.

Reading the linked article, I find it curious that the Berber "queen" said that the "Kahuna" tribes leaving from Egypt had the magical ability to levitate the stones of the pyrimids, yet were fearful of being prevented from leaving. If they had such great abilities, you would think they would be able to move about at will. How could they be held? Could they not dismantle any prison using thier "Secret?" If Max Long knew this "Secret," why did he not move 40 Ton stones about to demonstrate his abilities? I'm calling BS on the whole thing. I can't believe people's incredulity.
