Thought this may interest you Philip
The Grand Orient of France has voted tonight to become co-Masonic. This of course will have very interesting consequences on Freemasonry in France and Europe.
Best, Mike

interesting.
I could see them netting out the same in membership numbers. For every woman that joins, I'm sure a man will leave the craft in protest.
UGLE affiliated lodges could expect to see a minmum 50-75% loss of membership if they went co-ed

And they may now appeal to anti-sexist men who would not otherwise join.

Is this just your gut feel or is it based on hard research?

Face it. The mainstream is homosocial.
Having excluded women for so long they like it like that.
Freemasonry may be universal but a lot of Freemasons are not.

The issue raises howls of protest from self-appointed mind-guards, seeking to preserve the organisation's crumbling but still prevailing Groupthink. However, upon making known my belief in gender equality and inclusion being a necessary, unfolding corollary to the core principles from which the Craft arose, I have found most Brethren quietly agree and would like to see some change, but they usually remain silent for the sake of harmony (not surprisingly, harmony is rarely a priority for the afore-mentioned mind-guards).

What's all the noise about. Women were present in early masonry already and banned from masonry later on. Why? And what is the problem? i have female colleagues, the human resource manager(ess) is a woman, our president of the Irish Republic is a woman.., my doctor is a woman, my solicitor is a woman... my bank manager is a woman....etc etc Will I know abandon my citizenship, cancel the account with my bank and hand in my resignation in my company?

Excellent analogies. One wonders what Freemasonry is to any man who would cast it aside rather than sit in an open lodge with women present. Indeed, one might equally wonder what women are to such a man!?
