Australia's defence forces will go on a shopping spree with new helicopters, submarines, ships, armoured vehicles and other military hardware on the list.
Despite the economic recession, the government has committed to increase defence funding in real terms by three per cent from its current $22.1 billion annual funding until 2017-18 and then by 2.2 per cent until 2030.
The Defence White Paper, "Defending Australia in the Asia Pacific Century: Force 2030", says replacement of the fleet of six Collins Class submarines with 12 new subs will be Australia's largest ever single defence project.
