I think that it is much more likely that the reports of flying saucers are the results of the known irrational characteristics of terrestrial intelligence than of the unknown rational efforts of extra-terrestrial intelligence

Extrordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. No "Solomon Island" UFO site googled including yours seems believable. All dark screen, spooky, new age, conspiracy stuff. One had this reply from Byrd. www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread20077/pg1"I'm skeptical (no surprise)... and part of it is from the evidence in the writing. This seems (judging from sentence and word structure) to be written by the same person perpetrating the "HAARP frying bazillions of reindeer in Alaska!" nonsense... same writing style, and a lot of other linguistic clues make it sound like the same person. Compare the www.thesolomongiants.com... (supposedly by the same person.) "thesolomongiants.com" is written by someone whose first language is NOT English (inappropriate and inconsistant capitalization is one cue)... the one writing on the nexus page is someone whose first language IS English. There's a lot that's known about the Solomon Islands, including the folklore (members.tripod.com...) ... and "dragon snake" appears only in these pages about UFOs. I think it's a bunch of folks who want to get some serious tourist dollars. There are anthropologists and scientists crawling all over those islands, and if they REALLY wanted an investigation, all they'd have to do is march up to the local university or one of the societies there and ask for some help. They'd get a ton of equipment and a bunch of curious anthropologists poking around. And it's also interesting that after all that long time, there's no Japanese reports on this and no other reports. Just the UFO reporter who happens to coincidentally be mounting an expedition that you can finance. Gosh. Doess he have a book to sell, too?"

Also, the Solomons were indeed the site of alien bases and unidentified flying objects, at least from an indigenous perspective, during WWII. The air strips and richly laden supply planes gave rise to a number of Cargo Cults. Significantly, the mock-up or "decoy" planes and air strips used in their imitative and sympathetic magic were conventional in appearance, rather than extra-terrestrial.

All dark screen, spooky, new age, conspiracy stuff. Why do so many conspiracy sites feature dark screens? Having been conditioned by experience, it has become one of several factors which, on first impression, mitigate against a presumption of credibility and put me on my guard.
