This is a reply to Bro Morse ( Neil ), he brought this topic up on another ( USA) forum
OK, let me preface my comments with: I was in the hospital last week, am
still on medication, very tired and don't have much time to respond so I'll
be direct and most likely offensive J
To me the thought of limiting one's studies is anti-masonic and hypocritical
especially when it comes from those in power who more often than not have no
idea what masonry is. In assorted literature we talk about how masonry
stands against tyranny, ignorance and fanaticism. Well, limiting thought,
study and speech is but the first step toward those.
It, and this is not directed at this letter in particular, is sickening to
me to see us dumb ourselves down and lessen what our great Craft is for the
sake of public perception. When did we start caring about that? why do we
care about it? Pike and many other great scholars certainly didn't care and
to an extent (to my shame only to an extent) neither do I.
Masonry is alchemy.
Yes it has other elements and all kinds of other benefits, to me those are
the rights and benefits of masonry not masonry itself. Is this my twisted
perception or view? Perhaps, I am willing to admit that I could be deluded,
but I don't think so. There is too much in masonry that "is of G_d" for me
to think otherwise; this is G_d's Work that we do here, do to anything else
is to shame Him. but then again, perhaps I am just the tyrannical fanatic J
Do I think that every mason has to pursue alchemy? No.. does that mean they
are not masons, no. but I cannot sit and let those who are clueless prevent
the rest of us from doing G_d's Work.
S&F and respectfully,
Jonathan
