Terry, I don't recall such a walkabout. However, I was unattached for six years (although not inactive). Was the walkabout introduced and approved during that time or is it simply rarely worked? Is it anything like the impressive perambulations in the Royal Masters°?

As long as men are free to ask what they must, free to say what they think, free to think what they will, freedom can never be lost and science can never regress

To young souls there are good folks and bad folks.
To mature souls there are only good folks, though some do bad things.
And old souls, only see themselves.
I see you,

Philip, the silence on this has been deafening, have you heard anything Terry, all I have to add is from the minutes of the 30 June meeting of the Newcastle Masonic Study Circle, where it was the first item on the agenda (I had to send my apologies due to work). Dr. Bob James, President of the Study Circle and also on the Committee of Light, reported: So, from being an "Edict" or "Resolution," this officious communiqué has now been downgraded to a "Circular"!? Hopefully, the "Circular" will eventually complete its circle and disappear all together.

This is from an esoteric ( Masonic ) site I am on
a while back a research council of cryptic masons had a meeting and the following was read... i think its relevant to our discussion here about religion, politics, truth and studies...
+++++++++
To be sure, the origins of the Craft we practice here today are obscure. Obscured by time, myth and mystery we may debate our origins, but in this area the only certainties are that we can never fully know our origins and that it matters not.
I believe it is safe to say that our symbols are eclectic, drawing from sources beyond operative masonry; some may lie in various mystery schools such as alchemy, kabbalah, templary. One definition of our Craft is that it is a "beautiful system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols". I would suggest that you also consider it a `beautiful system of morality veiled in symbols and illustrated by allegory"; one that is understood only through intense study, strict discipline and solemn meditations.
Indeed, operative lodges themselves practiced the art of speculation. During times when king and potentate alike would hunt down and eliminate anyone who dared such radical thoughts as "the Earth is not flat", such lodges were safe havens for the pursuit of gnosis, and eventually they welcomed and accepted brethren from the mystery schools into their ranks.
It is in that Light that we meet here today – to freely practice our pursuit of gnosis. Here we should all feel free to pursue Light in Masonry in our own way, with the support of each other; let no Brother speak ill of another's studies. Speak your opinions freely and gently, and should you find another Brother to be in error, whisper quietly in his ear and do not scorn his thoughts, for his thoughts surely are God's thoughts just as are yours. God did not give us minds that we might never think anything untrue, but that by examining such thoughts, even all thoughts, we might come to know His Truth. For surely, we cannot know the Truth until we have examined, understood and eliminated all falsehoods. With that, I bid you all, my Brothers and Companions, welcome to the College.

What we call "reality" is but a distorted shimmer of that light that shines behind the many veils of perception and awareness. Each time we pass through a veil, whether through experience or study, we are irrevocably changed by the experience of that light as it becomes more clear to our senses. That which is communicated through the rending of each veil, appears as the murmurings of a madman. The deeper that our souls quest forth, the stranger we appear to become to those that we leave behind. Is this what GL is trying to save us from

BTW, I have now created an Esoterica board and have moved a number of pertinent threads to there.
