Fast forward nearly 300 years and female freemasons, while not entirely the norm, now exist across the globe. June 5 sees the centenary of the first Masonic Grand Lodge in Britain to admit men and women on an equal basis. To mark this there will be two exhibitions at the Library and Museum of Freemasonry in Britain – Women And Freemasonry: The Centenary And Square Meals: 300 Years Of Masonic Dining. But it is the female aspect of it that continues to intrigue.
